Chemik company, spezialiced in design and construction of electrical cabinets, automation and control systems, has trusted in ITECAM for develop two types of test and evaluate the IP code of their harness cables. One of these test is based only in the possible agression of solid particles to the cable and the other one test is based exclusively in water penetration inside the cover of the cable. For the application of these test, ITECAM has taken as reference the Spanish UNE20324 standard, which is equivalent to European EN 60529 standard “Degrees of protection provided by enclosures (IP code)”. The first test realized by the weather laboratory technicians was focused in stablish the protection against dust ingress (IP6X). For complete this process, is necessary to maintain a dust cloud over the cable, simulating extreme work conditions in presence of dust particles. Due to this is an IP6X test, the standard specifies that the proof must be protected against dust ingress. In this way, the test results sucessful if there isn´t any dust particle inside the cable. The second test was focused in stablish the protection against water ingress (IPX7). For complete this process, is necessary to fully inmerse the cable under water, always in the working position specified by the customer.
